It seems as if Sony is providing a really really early Christmas for PS3 adopters and Sony fanboys of all flavors. The biggest news of today seems to be an official release date for the highly anticipated Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. Think it stops there? Wrong, theres also a bundle, DualShock 3, and a special edition PSP that, in our opinion, is much sexier than the Star Wars bundle. Dates, pictures, and more details after the break.

Metal Gear Solid 4 gets a release date. Yes, it is now actually confirmed to ship on June 12, 2008. So far, there’s no word on anything special like a midnight launch, but it’s Thursday so it’s very probable. While there is no final date for Metal Gear Solid: Online (yes, its finalized as a separate game,) there is a Beta going live sometime in April, to those who pre-ordered the game.

The Solid Snake lovin’ doesnt end there though, as Sony has also announced a package of an 80GB PS3 and MGS4. I’m sure there are many people who are holding out buying a PS3 solely for this game, so it’s definitely a great move on Sony’s part. The package will the premium console, Metal Gear Solid 4, and a new Dualshock3 controller for $499 USD. It will be launching alongside the solo title this June.

It has also been reported that this 80gb PS3 version will indeed be backwards compatible with all 3 previous Metal Gear Solid titles , so there really aren’t any cons to this deal (except the newly created hole in your wallet.)

The good news train keeps rolling. Sony has dated the stand-alone DualShock3 controller for North America. The release will coincide with that of Gran Turismo 5: prologue on April 15th. Price is $54.99 USD, not a far cry from the 50-60 dollar price tag of the original controller, which will probably be phased out.

Lastly, Sony has just announced a God Of War themed PSP bundle. A sexy red with an even sexier Kratos print on the back. Bundles will be priced at $199 USD, and will be much more than just a PSP and the game its themed after. The package also includes the hit movie “Superbad” and a free download coupon for “Syphon Filter: Combat Ops.” I can vouch that both those are top notch titles, being a hilarious comedy and a good online multiplayer (only) take on Syphon Filter.
