Wired News has put together a Top 10 promised-but-never-released list from 2006. I think it’s absolutely hysterical that some of these products have been on the list forever. Check it out, it’s worth a look and a laugh!
Pull back the red curtain and dim the lights. It’s the 9th annual presentation of the Wired News Vaporware Awards, our ode to the year’s top technology products promised, hyped and scheduled, but not delivered.
The nominees were chosen by you, our readers, in November. We’ve sifted through the submissions and selected the 10 finalists. The race was tight this year, but we’ve managed to declare a winner. OK, maybe it wasn’t that tight.
killa says: Ahh Duke Nukem Forever… such memories. Forever means it’ll take forever for them to get it done and out the door. I’ve see screenshots from two of the four engines they could have released it on by now, at least the four I know they’ve licensed, and they looked fabulous at the time. I don’t know why they didn’t just finish each one and release it. They could’ve made a ton of money on each and every one by now because back then, people were craving more Duke. Now, there’s not much desire left. Sure, I bet there’s a good chunk of us here, myself included, that want the came to come out so we can play it every waking hour, but we don’t represent everyone. Perhaps 3DRealms should scrap the whole idea and work on a Prey sequel. That game actually came out, and it was announced AFTER Duke Nukem Forever was (granted it, too, took seven years to produce), but at least it came out.
