Though a few weeks away, Sony has officially released the prices and basic features of it’s wireless PSOne download service for the PlayStation Portable. Unfortunately though, the service does require a hunky PS3 for connection.

The PSOne wireless download service, (which hasn’t officially yet been granted a real name), will feature a huge back-catalog of original PlayStation 1 titles. The price of the downloads will range from about $5.99 to $10.99, and will take up an average of around 140MB to 550MB on your Memory Stick Duo.

Also, the PlayStation 3 will be required in order for the service to connect, since the PlayStation 3 is actually going to be transferring the data to the PSP, once it has been downloaded onto it’s 20gb or 60gb harddisk.

Now ask yourself this, “Is camping out for a PlayStation 3 worth being able to play super old PlayStation 1 titles again, on a small screen?” Maybe, if you’re a hardcore “Spyro” fan.
